Annual Paas Festival
April 1, 2005
Every year around Easter we hold the Paas Festival, which for several decades has been a ball at which young ladies are presented to the Society by their fathers. In 2005, however, the event was a benefit for the historic St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery, on Second Avenue at Tenth Street, situated on land that was Governor Peter Stuyvesant's seventeenth-century farm. The Society has a long history with this church where many of its founders, as well as Stuyvesant himself, are buried. The evening was a great success and we were able to donate a significant amount toward restoration efforts underway at the church.
